Self-Determination Readers includes 16 well-written and carefully conceived stories that reflect modern times and attitudes. It's ideal for the teen or young adult reading at a second grade level or below. The book is designed to engage the reader through full-color stories illustrated in a graphic-novel style. Each six- to eight-page story is perfect for a single home-study session with minimal adult input. The stories include Acting Right, Makes Cents, and How Rude! Covered spiralbound book, full color, 132 pages, 2007.
Self-Determination Readers Software features stories that are read aloud to the student by professional narrators. The text is highlighted by word, by line, or by complete sentence. The graphics are plentiful, contemporary, and age-appropriate. A comprehension test at the end of each story is also read aloud. An optional hint feature directs the user to the answer page to check responses. The student can access the software with or without your help by mouse, touchscreen, IntelliKeys, or single switch. A unified management system helps you quickly review or print out user performance data. You can determine reading lists and set the options that best suit the student's learning style. Choose speech narration either word-by-word or as naturally occurring continuous speech. Then select the text highlighting approach and assign tests.
