Know the Code DVD
Teaches basic in-school social skills to elementary students
On any given school day, children face a wide range of social situations that require knowledge of a wide array of social skills. How well they are able to meet those challenges can make the difference between a good day or a very bad one. A good year or a very bad year. Good or bad for them and for you too as acceptance vs. rejection are the things they're most likely to bring home to you.
Know the Code DVD presents social situations and appropriate social skills in a lively, story-based format. It includes six segments: A Day at School, Charles Gets Teased, Dion Scores, Kristi's First Day, Shana and the Secret, and Tameka and the Bully.
A Day at School is a 30 minute movie. It follows 5 students through a typical school day: from arriving in the morning, through lunch and recess, until the final bell rings. The stories are engaging, and commentary is at a minimum. Kids learn by watching the clear and strong examples. It’s a great overview of essential social skills.
Five segments, named after the primary characters, focus on their stories. Social situations are explored and corresponding social skills are illustrated step-by-step. Following each segment, teen-age hosts provide 10 minutes of analysis and comment on the importance of good social skills.
