Survival Signs and Symbols Software
Digital Flash Cards for recognition of real-world signs
Survival Signs & Symbols Flash Cards Software presents these signs and symbols in a multimedia format. The software is designed for non-readers who need to learn the meaning of common community signs. A series of activities using digital flash cards gives users a variety of cues, both visual and aural, and the repetition they need to learn to recognize the signs.
In the identification activity, the back side of every sign explains what the sign is and its purpose. Other activities include multiple choice (choose the small card that’s the same as the large one), matching (draw a line between the left and right hand columns), and voice recording for the student to practice saying the word aloud. On the front of each card is the word (or word and picture for nouns), and on the back is a sentence containing the word in context. Color and speech both aid word recognition.
The Survival Signs and Symbols lists can be printed as cards (1-8 per sheet) or as activity worksheets and you can create customized word lists for individual users. The program also tracks answers automatically so you have a record of each user’s progress.
You can customize the program through the options menu, allowing you to select:
- the number of choices in each activity
- which word list to use
- controlled or random order
- male or female voice
- errorless learning, which permits only a correct answer
The software is intuitive and easy-to-use. For detailed instructions, refer to the PDF User's Guide or the Help Menu built into the software. Choose from two delivery options: on disc or direct download.
The software includes a Single Family License. Software is Windows (XP and higher), Mac (OS X, PowerPC and Intel), touchscreen and single switch compatible.
